| The notes tell us that the Mocha Band were formed in 1971 to play guitar instrumentals in style of Terry & The Blue Jeans,
the Astronauts and,most all,The Ventures. |
| Surprisingly this is their first release but I'm sure it will not be their last. |
| The fourth track is A Japanese folk song but the other three track are all melodic originals. |
| Think of the best of The Ventures' Japanese title and you'll get the picture for these tracks. |
| Clean, rich, echo guitar take the lead and is the main feature of the sound suppourted by keyboad, rhythm
guitar, bass and drums.The backing is very neat and tidy,at times the bass and percussion sound so precise that
I suspect some computer involvement. |
| The fluent lead work is main attraction and there are some neat Ventures runs and phrases slipped in to give the trcks an
authentic atmosphere. |
| Midnight Dreaming is a ballad with the feel of Autumn Leaves and
tiki-tiki guitar backing onDry Surf heralds a Ventures '64 styled piece.
